Visionary Product IP Ratings
IP ratings provide a guideline for the degree of protection provided by mechanical casings and electrical enclosures against intrusion, dust, accidental contact, and water. Every Visionary product has an IP rating which defines its suitability for usage. There are two numbers that define the rating of a product.
Dust Protection
The first number is the level of protection against dust and enclosure protection against access to hazardous parts with the lowest rating being X (no data) and the highest rating being '6' which is referenced as being 'dust tight'.
Water ingress Protection
The second number defines the level of protection from liquid ingress. The lowest rating is '0' which refers to no protection. The highest rating is '9x' which refers to powerful high-temperature water jets.
What IP rating do I need for my application
The following table lists recommended IP ratings for light fittings of different applications. Please Note: this table is for indicative purpsoes only. Please ensure you comply with all applicable New Zealand laws when installing Visionary products.
