Connecting the RGBYW remote control to its controller (LTech)

This article covers pairing the LTECH Q5 remote control with the LTECH 5 channel controller (F5-DMX-4A) used with our Flex Pro RGBWY strip lighting.

Before you start

  1. Check the controller and strip lighting are wired correctly and the controller is connected to a 24V power supply.
  2. Put fresh batteries in the remote (2 x AAA).
  3. Turn the lighting circuit on, so the driver, controller and strip all have power. The controller must stay powered while you pair.

Pairing the remote

  1. Find the small match button on the controller, next to the power terminals.
  2. Press and hold the match button until the controller beeps. This resets the controller and it restarts.
  3. Wait at least 15 seconds for it to restart before doing anything else.
  4. Give the match button one short press. The controller beeps and the strip starts to flash: it is now ready to pair.
  5. While the strip is flashing, press and hold the "I" (on) key for zone 1 on the remote. The zone keys are the four tall keys near the bottom of the remote, numbered 1 to 4, with "I" at the top and "O" at the bottom.
  6. Keep holding until the controller beeps again. Let go: the remote is paired.
  7. Check it works: press "O" on zone 1 to turn the strip off, then "I" to turn it back on.

Note: the reset in step 2 unpairs every remote from this controller. If more than one remote should run it, pair each one again using steps 4 to 6.

Using more than one controller

One remote has 4 zone keys (1 to 4). Pair each controller in turn, using the "I" key of the zone you want it on in step 5. More than one controller can share a zone, and they will then change together.

Good to know

  • Pairing is remembered through power cuts and when the lights are switched off at the wall.
  • The remote talks to the controller by radio, so keep the controller within range of where the remote is used. Walls, metal and switchboard cabinets all shorten the range. See Can one remote control two lengths of strip lighting with two separate controllers?
  • If the strip turns on and off but the colours will not change, replace the remote's batteries first, then pair it again.
