What operating voltage do Visionary strip lighting use?
All Visionary LED strip lighting uses 24V DC unless otherwise specifically stated.
24V LED strip lighting is often preferred over 12V LED strip lighting for several reasons:
- Longer runs: Because 24V LED strips use less current than 12V strips, they can be run for longer distances without experiencing significant voltage drop. This means that longer runs of LED strips can be achieved with fewer power supplies and with less voltage drop, resulting in a more even and consistent lighting effect.
- Greater efficiency: 24V LED strips are more energy efficient than 12V strips because they require less current to produce the same amount of light. This means that 24V strips generate less heat, use less energy, and have a longer lifespan.
- Increased safety: 24V LED strips are safer to work with than 12V strips because they use lower current and are less likely to cause electrical shock or fire hazards. Additionally, the higher voltage of 24V strips makes them less susceptible to voltage drops, which can cause overheating and fire risks.
- Better compatibility: Many LED strip controllers, dimmers, and other accessories are designed to work with 24V LED strips, making it easier to create custom lighting effects and to integrate LED strips with other lighting systems.
- Easier installation: 24V LED strips are easier to install because they require fewer power supplies and connectors than 12V strips. This can result in a simpler installation process and lower installation costs.
In summary, 24V LED strip lighting is generally considered to be a better choice than 12V LED strip lighting for longer runs, greater efficiency, increased safety, better compatibility, and easier installation. However, the choice between 24V and 12V LED strip lighting ultimately depends on the specific needs and requirements of the lighting application.
