Recessed Luminaire Clearance Ratings
Clearance ratings are a safety parameter term as defined in AS/NZS 60598.2.2:2001:AA. The clearance is related to recessed luminaires and the fitting's proximity to building elements in a ceiling cavity. There are three primary rating terms of interest to Visionary recessed luminaires - 'SCB', 'MIC' and 'HCB'.
HCB – Height clearance to building element
The minimum distance as specified by the luminaire manufacturer between the top of the recessed luminaire and any building element above it.
SCB – Side clearance to building element
The minimum distance between the side of the recessed luminaire and any building element as specified in AS/NZS 3000 or as specified by the luminaire manufacturer.
MIC – Minimum insulation clearance
The minimum distance as specified by the luminaire manufacturer between the top of any building insulation and the building element above it.
