QT Daisy Installation Distances
Like all cables, 24V strip lighting cables have a small amount of resistance, which results in a voltage drop. The voltage drop depends on the length of the cable. The voltage drop of Visionary cable is approximately 0.05V per metre. The below table provides some quick calculations for assistance.
The minimum operating voltage of a QT daisy is 22.5V. Below this voltage can cause the lamp to shut down.
Scenario testing example
We have tested the following scenario to provide guidance on various cable lengths and their suitability.
The scenario uses 2x QT Daisy (24V) and a 15W 24V constant voltage LED driver. LED driver starting voltage is 24.35V.
Scenario | Voltage | Voltage Drop | Result |
QT attached at 2m of cable | 24.35V | 0.01V | OK |
QT attached at 90m of cable | 23.90V | 0.46V | OK |
QT attached at 2m and 90m cable length | 24,35 & 23.90V respectively | 0.01V & 0.46V respectively | OK |
Please note that this test was done in a Visionary laboratory and results may vary.
